Elysium is the perfectly happy afterlife from Greek mythology. Elysium can also just be any place or situation that's absolutely perfect and happy.
So, something Elysian is full of perfect happiness, or glorious in a heavenly way.
Several ways are correct.
I prefer "ill IZ un."
(The last two syllables rhyme with "vision.")
Part of speech:
(Adjectives are describing words, like “large” or “late.”
They can be used in two ways:
1. Right before a noun, as in “an Elysian dessert.”
2. After a linking verb, as in "The dessert was Elysian.”)
How to use it:
Talk about Elysian places, Elysian dreams, Elysian views, Elysian vacations, Elysian desserts, or Elysian abundance, glory, indulgence, splendor, etc.
"Elysian fields" is a common phrase meaning "a heavenly place." You can use it literally ("the Elysian fields of the beach resort") or figuratively ("the Elysian fields of family harmony.")
Notice that I keep capitalizing the word, but some folks use a lowercase instead. Dictionaries disagree on the issue, so you can go either way.
People are generally surprised to learn that life in Hawaii is not Elysian in every way.
Your home is a haven, an Elysian shelter of privacy, comfort, quiet, and love.
Look away from the screen to explain the definition in your own words. You’ll know you understand what "Elysian" means when you can explain it without saying "place of contentment" or "heavenly."
Think of a very happy place you spent time in during childhood, and fill in the blank: "My memories of (place) will always be Elysian."
Example: "My memories of the neighborhoods I grew up in, full of other kids on bikes and skates, will always be Elysian."
