Make Your Point will always be free to anyone who wants to read it! Creating it is my daily joy, my "heartwork." I love selecting words, discovering their histories and uses, and sharing my findings with thousands of readers: people like you, who care about words and their beauty and utility. Hopefully you've noticed that, in recent months, I've been working harder to bring more humor into the issues, even if it's just borrowed humor from quoted sources. I used to be a very Serious Writer. Now I see that the lines are very fine between humor, entertainment, joy, and learning. I hope that this effort brings you a chuckle from time to time. Anyway, a lot of time and money goes into Make Your Point, and it's time and money well spent. Although you might skim each issue in just a few minutes, it takes me about two to four hours to create each one. I pay for my domain name, my web site, and my mail server, the service that sends the issues to thousands of subscribers on my behalf. Originally, I'd hoped to bring in advertisers to cover all of these costs--and sometimes you do see that I've sold some ad space--but the Internet is changing; ad sales no longer hold up as a viable strategy.
