To amble somewhere, or to amble along, is to move or walk along in a slow, relaxed way.

These people are ambling down the hallway. They're in a good mood. They're taking their time as they get where they're going. They're ambling.

You might amble down the sidewalk with a friend, talking and laughing, hands in your pockets.

You might amble through a shopping mall with your family, or amble down a beach on horseback with a friend.

Although it's usually people or animals who amble—or sometimes vehicles, like this ambling bus—you can also get figurative and say that your afternoon, your summer, or even your whole childhood or life is ambling along, meaning it's passing by in a slow, unhurried, unworried way.

Remember: ambling is walking or moving along at a nice, easy pace, because you're feeling relaxed and unrushed.

Idea 1: "(A person or a four-legged animal of some kind) ambled (his or her) way over to us, gazing at (something) and pausing to (do something)."

Idea 2: "It was a nice, lazy (morning or afternoon) on a (particular day of the week), and I'd just ambled into (some room or building) to (get something to eat, or do something relaxing)."
